Now it was time to rearrange the workshop again, so we can install the ER tanks on the wings. Lots of tetris involved, before we had a wing on the tables.
Cutting into the wing to make room for the 2 extra rib bays of the ER tanks did elevate our heart rate quite a bit! As did the extra holes we needed in the wing spar flanges.

I wanted an option to bring more fuel than the standard 60USG, not because I enjoy flying very long legs but because I like the option of not having to stop for fuel on trips. Getting fuel can be cumbersome in some countries, so having 84 USG capacity really meets the bill for what I was looking for.
The Sky Design fuel tank kit was a nice experience, and, apart from the smell, I even enjoyed the proseal part!

Attached the left wing, we have to do one after the other, since she she has gotten so big, she hardly fits in our workshop anymore…
Very rewarding work, the optics with the aileron and flap on…

We noticed a missing rivet in the quickbuild portion of the wing. This meant removing the tank to get access, set the rivet and put the tank back on.

Finally, back to riveting. We now lost track of the rivet numbers, I am afraid, so the counter is not updated…
But it was great to work on my contortion skills, that access panel for the pitot box sure was handy on the left wing!

Almost all the wires for the wings are now installed. Lights, pitot tubes and wires, coax for the NAV antenna… especially for the coax, I did not want a connector at the wing root. And since every connector is a possible point of failure, I decided not to have any connectors at all. Hence the wire mess coming out of the wings, which will be sorted and pulled through the fuselage upon final assembly. Ask me later, if I would do it again ;-)

Mounted the control box for the heated pitot and also conduits for the many wires into the wings.

The bearing in the bracket built from the quickbuild facility had some play. Since we could not fix it, we ordered some parts and rebuilt the thing.
