I did not enjoy this part a bit. I thought this sucked way more than the doors!
I tried to get everything lined up perfectly, but every time I drilled a hole, the measurements and lines would be off by a hair… The front pant was the worst, as it is not symmetrical, but a little flat on one side. Had to install that one twice.
My dad made nice brackets for the pants to keep them in place while the flox is hardening, that helped a lot. What didn’t help were the temperatures… wintertime is just too cold for fiberglassing. But we wanted to be ready for the engine, when it arrives, so there was no way around it.
Some of the glasswork was done at home on my kitchen table, so it could harden in a warm environment.
Still some bodywork to do on the pants, but overall, I am reasonably happy with them. Or maybe just glad that they are almost done.
