Gear - Installing the wheels and brakes

Installing the landing gear was easy, everything fit very nicely. I went with the Matco brakes, which offer a little more braking power than the stock brakes.

They require a bit of filing on the wheel pant bracket.

Putting the cotter pin through the axle was impossible, so we asked our neighbor to make us some inserts for the axles on his lathe. That way the pin is guided through the axle. No idea how other people are doing this.

Another thing that bothers us, is the interference of the tube caps with the axle nut and cotter pin. This was resolved by taking the smaller caps off of my car…

The plane is now ready to stand on the gear but before we take her off the table, we will fit the wheel pants. Yay, fiberglass…
